In this TVC, we merged the real world with virtual reality and created an epic adventure for this loving dad. We utilised a number of adrenaline packed shots from previous campaigns and cut this together with the footage we shot over one day of the dad in his garage. This project required intensive visual effects treatment to create the virtual reality world which we see in the final edit. Virtual reality worlds were created from pre-existing Supercheap Auto scenarios, such as Octane Island, and comped and rendered into 3D interactive maps. Every detail was meticulously designed and created to fit into the new virtual world. Meanwhile, on set we had to navigate the ever-changing COVID regulations at the time.

We worked with the extremely talent Caleb Thompson and Tim Bahrij in post production to create these virtual reality assets. Everything to the very end, including the treatment on the oil cans in the store, were meticulously thought about and created in VFX.

It’s all in the details! As this advertisement was based around a father who absolutely loves motorsports racing, we did something a little extra special. On the dad’s bedside is a framed photograph of the legendary Peter Brock. We actually contacted Peter Brock’s lovely wife, Beverley, who generously sent us and gave permission to use three images for the purpose of this TVC. Keep an eye out in the final edit. This was for the second campaign.
